SONIA BRANDT DELEW LIVED IN CORTE MADERA FOR 90 YEARS

Sonia Brandt came to Corte Madera from San Francisco in 1916 with her parents and her brother when she was just six years old and starting school. The family moved into one of the big new homes on the hill above the train station, where the front windows looked out across the marsh and the bay. In 1995, Sonia talked about her long life in Corte Madera during a visit with Gerrie Reichard and Jana Haehl at that same home, in which she and her husband, Dick DeLew, had raised their son, Richard, who continued to live there and care for Sonia throughout all of her later years.
